Delivery order – Our Process for Your success
The path to production series
- Inquiry and Component Specification
The customer submits an inquiry for a component requiring forging or casting as a primary process, based on our advanced manufacturing capabilities. This typically includes CAD data, drawings, and technical or functional requirements. If needed, we support the refinement and optimization of specifications right from the start. - CBD-Based Costing
We calculate the inquiry using the transparent “CBD open-book” costing method. Every cost element – from raw materials and processing to logistics and quality assurance – is clearly detailed. Depending on the project, we either use our in-house production facilities or rely on trusted, quality-certified partners from our network, ensuring maximum flexibility and consistent quality. - Cost Engineer Collaboration
The CBD calculation is reviewed jointly with the customer’s cost engineer. The goal is to identify all cost drivers, uncover savings potential, and define a technically and financially optimized solution. The outcome is a finalized, transparent pricing structure. - Launch of the Product Development Process (PEP)
Once pricing is approved and the project is awarded, the digital, workflow-driven Product Development Process (PEP) begins. All stakeholders are integrated, and the timeline to series production readiness is activated. Progress and key milestones are fully traceable at any time. - Scope of the Service Production Package
Our comprehensive production service package forms the core of our offering – ensuring efficient project delivery, on-time results, and reliable component supply.
Development Order – Efficiently Reaching the Goal
Development Process at a Glance
- Defining Requirements
The customer requires a new product that begins with a forging or casting process. Initial priorities often include load capacity, weight, and material choice – defined collaboratively during the kickoff. - Limited Internal Resources
When internal capacity, specific know-how, or project experience is lacking, we step in. Together, we assess which external skills and technologies are needed for a high-quality, efficient implementation. - Requirements Profile and Proposal Phase
Based on the defined scope, we create a Wossner Technology requirements profile and check feasibility in our own facilities. If needed, we bring in qualified and audited partners from our global network. Material availability, formability, simulation data, and economic viability all factor into our evaluation. - Coordination and Project Award
In a personal consultation, we tailor our proposal to fit the customer’s internal capacity. Communication channels, roles, and requirements (such as compliance standards or approval levels) are defined. The project is officially commissioned after final approval. - Launch of the Product Development Process (PEP)
Once approved, the PEP begins. This structured, digital process covers all phases – from design and simulation to production planning and prototype coordination. The modular setup is adapted to product complexity and provides full transparency via digital tools. - Achieving the Defined Milestone
The usual target is Milestone 4, including:
- Final design documentation
- Production and assembly drawings
- Simulation results
- Engineering calculations
- Tool design and documentation
- FMEA results for risk analysis
Optional: Initial prototypes or rapid manufacturing samples
Series Production Order – Fully Prepared for Production
From Feasibility to Final Release
- Defining Requirements
The customer requests a new product involving forging or casting. Requirements typically focus on function, material, cost targets, weight, or durability. We can also assist in concept evaluation and process selection from the outset. - Resource Analysis
If the customer lacks internal capacity or expertise, we jointly identify bottlenecks in development, production, or quality assurance. A collaborative execution model is then defined to enable a seamless process. - Requirements Profile and Feasibility Assessment
A tailored requirements profile is created. We then assess feasibility using our in-house facilities, or we leverage vetted partners from our global supplier network. Key considerations include material supply, formability, simulation outcomes, and economic viability. - Proposal and Alignment
We submit a detailed proposal that includes the project timeline, technical specs, and a preliminary assessment of costs and risks. In a follow-up coordination meeting, any open items are clarified, and the offer is fine-tuned. Project roles and responsibilities are also defined. - Launch of the Product Development Process (PEP)
Once awarded, the digital, workflow-controlled PEP begins. This includes design, simulation, tooling, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), and regular review checkpoints to validate each work package. Project progress is tracked via digital platforms.
- Achieving the Defined Milestone
The typical goal is Milestone 5, delivering a complete production-ready package:
- Final part design, production drawings, simulations, and engineering documentation
- Tooling designs, machining programs, and production-ready tools
- Complete cost breakdown using CBD methodology
- Process capability data (e.g., Cpk, Ppk)
- Optional: Sampling results according to PPAP or VDA standards
At this stage, the project is fully prepared for series release or launch – supported by continued involvement from our project team, if needed.
Consulting Request – Expertise On Demand
External Support at a Glance
- Need for External Expertise
A new product is in development, but tight timelines, resource constraints, or unforeseen challenges threaten key PEP milestones. This calls for fast, focused expert intervention.
- Inquiry and Status Review
The customer reaches out to Wossner Technology with a specific request – ranging from design and simulation to process review or materials consulting. In a collaborative session, we assess the current status, identify problem areas, and define tasks, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Proposal Development
We develop a customized proposal outlining the required services, estimated effort (hourly or daily), and delivery method (on-site or remote). The proposal includes an estimate of project duration, key cost drivers, and necessary resources.
- Assignment and Milestone Planning
Once approved, the engagement is formally confirmed. Together, we define milestones – either integrated into the existing PEP or as standalone tasks – and ensure smooth alignment with the customer’s development process.
- On-Site Milestone Support
Milestones are presented on-site. Depending on the agreement, Wossner Technology serves as presenter, consultant, or expert support – seamlessly integrated into your team.
